The AirVape X (USB-C) is the slimmest vape from AirVape, the American brand that built its reputation on discreet portables. It suits solo users who want a vaporizer that disappears into a jeans pocket, and it is widely praised as one of the most portable dry herb vapes available. AirVape has released bigger models since, yet no rival has made the X's slim profile feel dated.

The X puts discretion ahead of raw power. The battery covers 5 to 7 solo sessions between charges, and the vapour is flavourful for its size, not class-leading. That trade buys a level of pocketability few vapes come close to; for quiet sessions on a walk, a trip or a night out, this is the vape you will actually have with you.

The AirVape X measures 119 mm tall, 47 mm wide and just 12 mm thick, and it weighs 91 g. That makes it one of the thinnest dry herb vaporizers available, about as narrow as a phone. It slips into a jeans pocket without a visible bulge.

The body is stainless steel with a smooth matte finish, slightly wider at the top where the chamber sits. It feels solid in the hand despite the low weight.

The version we stock is the current Royal Edition. It charges through USB-C, which replaced the older micro-USB port, and it carries an eco-friendly bamboo mouthpiece tip in place of the standard ceramic.

The X Shell protective case comes in the box. The case is splash-proof, dirt-proof and smell-resistant, and it adds almost nothing to the vape's size.

You can even switch the vape on through the Shell and feel the ready vibration through the case. You only uncover the mouthpiece when it is time to inhale.

The AirVape X uses hybrid heating built around an oval ceramic chamber. The ceramic walls warm the herbs by direct contact, while a compartment beneath the chamber gathers hot air that rises up through the load. It works like standing on warm ground while a warm breeze moves past you; heat reaches the herbs from every side.

The heater reaches temperature in about 20 seconds, roughly the time it takes to grind your herbs. From chamber to mouthpiece, the vapour travels through an isolated ceramic path that keeps the taste clean.

You set the temperature in single-degree steps between 93°C and 220°C with the up and down buttons. The 1.3-inch display shows the live climb to your target temperature, the battery level and a session countdown in minutes and seconds. A short vibration tells you when the vape is ready.

The AirVape X remembers your last temperature and starts there next time. Most of the flavour lives between 177°C and 199°C; lower settings preserve lighter compounds and terpenes, while higher settings extract more in fewer draws. Many owners step the temperature up through the session and finish around 199°C.

At the top of the range the metal body and mouthpiece warm up. You can add a silicone cover (sold separately) that insulates the body during high-temperature sessions, or a glass bubbler that cools the vapour through water for sessions at home.

The oval ceramic chamber holds around 0.25 g of ground herbs, a solo-sized load by design. Its smooth top edges let you scoop herbs straight in, and the magnetic mouthpiece doubles as the lid. The chamber is 25% larger than the one in the older AirVape XS.

Small loads suit the X well. They extract quickly and evenly within a single session, so little goes to waste.

A wax pad for concentrates is included in the box. The 220°C ceiling suits dry herbs better, so treat concentrates as an occasional extra. If concentrates are your main interest, a dedicated concentrate vape such as the Puffco Pivot is a better fit.

Everything runs on three buttons and the display, so a session follows a simple routine.

1. Loading: Pop off the magnetic mouthpiece, which doubles as the chamber lid. Scoop about 0.25 g of finely ground herbs into the oval chamber and put the mouthpiece back.
2. Powering on: Press the power button three times. The vape starts at the temperature you used last.
3. Setting the temperature: Use the up and down buttons to adjust in single degrees; around 180°C is a good starting point.
4. Heating: Wait about 20 seconds. The vape vibrates and the display confirms when the target is reached.
5. Inhaling: Take slow, steady draws while the on-screen timer counts down the session.
6. Finishing: The session ends on its own after 3 minutes, or 5 minutes if you extend it. The vape vibrates, the screen says "ciao", and once the chamber has cooled you brush out the used herbs.

The built-in 1300 mAh battery delivers 5 to 7 sessions per charge, roughly an hour of vaping. Higher temperatures drain it faster. The battery is sealed and cannot be replaced.

A full charge through USB-C takes about an hour. The AirVape X supports pass-through charging, so you can finish a session while plugged in, as long as the battery is not completely empty.

The box includes a USB-C cable but no wall adapter. You can add the fast charger for quick top-ups, and a magnetic USB-C adapter that protects the port from daily cable strain.

A quick brush of the chamber after each session keeps the AirVape X in good shape. The brush is included in the box.

For a deeper clean every few weeks, the mouthpiece assembly splits into five parts: magnetic lid, tip, screen, ceramic airflow box and silicone gasket. Take the gasket out first and wash it in warm soapy water; it should stay out of alcohol. The ceramic airflow box and screen can soak in rubbing alcohol, then rinse and dry.

The two screens clog with residue over time, which tightens the draw and dulls the flavour. Swapping them every 5 to 10 sessions keeps the airflow open, and replacement screens come in packs of six.

The XMax V4 Pro is a similarly priced portable with a strong spec sheet. It offers full convection heating, adjustable airflow and an included glass water pipe adapter, which makes it a flavour-focused pick at this price.

The AirVape X answers with a body built for pocket carry above all. At 12 mm thick and 91 g it is far slimmer and lighter than the V4 Pro, and it carries a limited lifetime manufacturer warranty on top of our 2-year warranty.

If flavour tuning and water filtration out of the box matter most, the V4 Pro earns its keep. If the vape has to disappear into a pocket every day, the X is the one you will actually carry.

The Wolkenkraft FX Mini Ultra is a compact convection portable, positioned as the flavour-first mini in this size class. It delivers better flavour than the X and carries a 5-year warranty.
